How a NASA Engineer’s Expertise Can Propel Beverly Hills into a Tech-Savvy Future

In Beverly Hills, a city known for its elegance and rich history, Nooshin Meshkaty is introducing a new chapter that promises innovation and forward-thinking leadership. Known among her peers as a rocket scientist for her extensive work at NASA, within the community for her impactful tenure as a School Board President, and to her family as a devoted mother, Meshkaty is now setting her sights on a new horizon: a seat on the Beverly Hills City Council.

Meshkaty’s campaign launch has been met with enthusiasm, as she brings to the table not just her technological expertise but also a proven track record of community leadership. Her ambition is clear: to harness her unique skill set to address and resolve the pressing issues facing Beverly Hills residents, with a particular focus on aligning the city’s future with the cutting edge of 21st-century technologies.

At NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Meshkaty’s role as an Instrument Electronics Engineering Manager, overseeing a team of 22, has honed her ability to think critically and solve problems creatively. These qualities, she believes, are what set her apart and what Beverly Hills needs to enhance public safety, support local businesses, and foster an environment of innovation.

Meshkaty’s commitment to leveraging technology for the community’s benefit isn’t new. Her tenure on the BHUSD School Board from 2005 to 2009 was marked by significant technological advancements, including spearheading efforts to introduce Wi-Fi across all campuses and volunteering her weekends to help teachers integrate computers into their classrooms. This was just the beginning of her journey to bring technological solutions to community challenges.

As technology continues to evolve rapidly, Meshkaty remains dedicated to keeping Beverly Hills at the forefront of innovation. She envisions a future where artificial intelligence and the latest technological developments are integral to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of the community. Her goals extend to improving education, building a stronger sense of community, and enhancing sustainability through the embrace of new technologies.

Meshkaty’s leadership experience extends beyond the School Board; she has been a driving force on the Traffic and Parking Commission, and held positions with GIRL Inc., the Board of Directors for the Farhang Foundation, and the Visionary Women Circle, among others. Notably, her proactive approach on the Traffic and Parking Commission exemplifies her ability to implement rapid solutions to immediate problems, advocating for temporary safety measures to address urgent community concerns.

Her resilience, shaped by personal challenges including running seven marathons and overcoming breast cancer, informs her approach to problem-solving and leadership. Meshkaty believes in facing problems head-on with strength and determination, a philosophy she plans to bring to the City Council.

Her deep connection to Beverly Hills, having moved to the city from Iran at age 15 and watched her children grow up within the BHUSD system, fuels her desire to contribute to the city’s legacy. Meshkaty’s campaign is a promise to usher in a new generation of leadership that is tech-savvy, solution-oriented, and deeply connected to the community’s needs and aspirations.

Meshkaty’s journey from NASA engineer to city council candidate is not just about a change in career trajectory; it’s about bringing a vision of a technologically advanced, safe, and inclusive Beverly Hills to life. Her candidacy represents a bridge between the city’s storied past and a future filled with endless possibilities, propelled by innovation and a deep commitment to community.
